National Society for Democracy and Law organized a public meeting on the evening of Tuesday, 30th July2013 entitled “The role of youth in the empowerment of vulnerable groups access to justice”, with the participation of Mr. Ibrahim Muammar chairman of the society, Mr. Ghassan Abu Hatab- Director of the Study Institute of Birzeit,and members of the Board of Directors and in the presence of many dignitaries and community volunteering youth and activist in the community work, the meeting came within the framework of the project “Empowering vulnerable groups legally and enhance access to basic social services (EQUALITY), supported and funded by United Nations Development Program UNDP / PAPP.

Mr.Ibrahim Muammar- society chairman, opened the meeting and spoke about the society`s role in the legal empowerment of young, explaining that the Assembly put on its prioritizing attention working with young people, and seeks to involve young people in the activities and programs of the Assembly, in addition to special training programs and legal empowerment provided for them. He said that young people are able to give and able to build societies where they are the main talker about civilizations and culture of the nation and also in the progress of the peoples on both limit. With regard to the work of the Legal Clinic at the Assembly, he pointed out that the legal clinic succeeded in providing legal aid for many of the vulnerable groups in various parts of Rafah, and that the society is seeking to strengthen cooperation and relationship between the various youth groups to work together in order to enable those categories for access to justice and promoting the values ​​of justice among the Palestinian community in all its categories.

In his turn, Mr. GhassanAbu Hatabtalked about the role ofyoung people insupporting vulnerable groupsin the Palestinian societyin which he stressedthat young peoplein our societyareapart of thevulnerable groupsdue to the lack ofeconomic empowerment among vulnerable groups and theremust bea balance betweenlife and work.

As he stressed that the work on the empowerment of young people within the communities does not stop at the development of their abilities but employ these capabilities to serve the community and its groups and this demand of us to face many challenges interfere with the political economist and cognitive mechanisms. This is to build open turn on the fields of education, rehabilitation and training, especially since the building of generation knowledge is inseparable from the requirement to expand the areas of freedom, strengthen the foundations of knowledge and the attainment of the overall development.

Abu Hatab considered that young people constitute a driving force in the community who able to make change in their families and in the lives of their peers in the local community. To continue to maintain this momentum, the young people need information, skills, incentives and inspirations that appropriate to carry out the required action to achieve human rights respect and human dignity.

Finally, the participants asked for cooperation with young considering  youth is the  best category in transferring and dissemination of the idea of access to justice , demanding the civil society to rehabilitate them to resist the culture of obedience , submission and negative community practices connected with them. And provide the appropriate environment for young people to develop the social and political system.  Considering that access to justice is a right guaranteed to all citizens.
