The NSDL recently finished a series of 12 workshops for preparing the high school graduates to the university study. These workshops were distributed along the Gaza Strip in the context of the project of “building Youth Leadership in Palestine” in cooperation with the Catholic Relief Services. the participant in these workshops were representatives of several universities and many male and female high school students. The representatives of the universities of the Gaza strip explained the specializations offered in each university and the procedures of registration and admission, in addition to the relationships of these universities with the local community. The representatives gave the students valuable advices concerning the coming university life and the proper academic behavior. In addition, the students listened to lengthy answers to question about their concerns of the new university life.

The students revealed their utmost happiness for their participation in such workshops, which have had the most significant role in giving them an idea on the universities in the Gaza Strip and which will help them to choose the study which is truly appropriate for his skills.

In her part, Ms Sahar Sha’at, the program director in the Catholic Relief Services (CRS), hoped success for all students and encouraged them to challenge the hard circumstances in order to attain success. She emphasized that the CRS paid great attention in its programs for students as they represent the youth segment, which is the basic element in building any society. Ms Sha’at revealed her thanks and appreciation to the NSDL for its implementation of these workshops according to the predetermined plan so as to comprise all the Gaza Strip.

The coordinator of the project Younis Abu Lebda revealed his consent on the completion of the project’s plan and the benefits which the high school; students gained from the workshops implemented in all parts of the Gaza Strip. He affirmed on the importance of providing the students with the ability to overcome hardships they face during their university study, especially under the hard economic circumstances from which the Gaza Strip suffer.

In the end of the meeting, the representatives of the universities in the Gaza Strip revealed their thanks and appreciation for those who organized the workshop, which they considered as a significant contribution in the intellectual and cultural arena of youth.
