NSDL in cooperation with the institutions of civil society organized sit-rally to support the Egyptian efforts to end the state of division and reunification between the home two parts in the morning of 23/10/2008, near Salaheddin Gate between the Egyptian-Palestinian border, under the title ” Palestine is bigger than all of us “, with the participation of many institutions of civil and national society figures and with a large crowd of people. Participants raised Palestinian flags, and slogans calling for national unity, and the most prominent slogans were ” the national unity is a integrity Don’t betray it, and “Palestine is bigger than all of us”, and we will not forgive and all that miss the opportunity to end the division. The participants also raised slogans tribute to Egyptian and Arab efforts and Arab League.

Ibrahim Muammar, the chairman of NSDL thanked the Egyptian efforts to end the state of division and reunification between the home two parts. Muammar demanded the Arab countries represented by the Arab League to press hardly on the parties and force them to return to the unity between the home two parts, stressing that the Palestinian masses will not be tolerated and will forgive all that miss the opportunity to restore the unity and cohesion between the two nation and history will see it. Muammar consider that the internal Palestinian divide has damaged and hurt the Palestinian issue and the only beneficiary of this continuing dividing is the Israeli occupation, adding that the continuation of the political divide is reflected negatively on the rights of the Palestinians in all the Palestinian territories, in view of the increasing violations of human rights and repeated attacks on personal freedoms. Muammar also appealed to all the institutions of civil society and political forces to emerge from the silence and calling for national unity as it is the only guarantee for the protection of our legitimate rights and to achieve our dream and our goal of establishing an independent Palestinian state.

From his side, Ahmed Shaat “Abu Nabil”, called the field coordinator for the People’s campaign to end the division and the director of the clans and the reform committee in Rafah, the Egyptian government in particular and the Arab countries in general to put pressure on all the Palestinian factions in all ways and means to force them to return the national unity and agree on a single national program of the Palestinian issue at the international level. He considered that national unity is unanimity among the various sides of the Palestinian people, adding that there is no need to all but national unity. Shaat promised to keep the popular and public events until the termination of division and unity between the two home parts. The participants chanted slogans calling for national unity and to end national division.

They also vowed to continue the popular events until the end of division and unity between the two home parts.
