In cooperation with the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), the National Society for Democracy and Law (NCDL) conducted a workshop entitled “Basic Concepts on the Personal Status Law” .This meeting comes within the framework of several awareness meetings on various legal topics implemented by PCHR in cooperation with the National Society for Democracy and Law in Rafah Governorate.

The workshop started with Magda Shehadeh, a researcher in the Women’s Rights Unit at the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, welcomed the attendees and then talked about the work of the Women’s Unit and its programs in the context of serving women and the Center’s ongoing attempt to redress them. She also reviewed the experience of the Center in documenting violations of women’s rights in general. Fair to women in a way that enjoys all their rights. She pointed out that the center conducts many awareness lectures throughout the year on issues related to the personal status law and the topics of violence, which target different segments of society from the north to the south of the sector in order to spread the culture of human rights, in addition to helping women to achieve their rights through representation in Sharia courts to get them into a better position.

At the end of the meeting, Shehadeh stressed the need to continue to provide legal awareness to citizens in general and young people in particular.
