The Israeli Occupation Forces are using excessive and lethal force against unarmed civilians for the 65th Friday, who do not show a threat to Israeli soldiers and without any legal justification. This confirms that the Israeli army has violated all international treaties and conventions that protect civilians in the absence of a real deterrent. It has become clear that targeting civilians who do not pose a threat to the occupation soldiers is systematic by the Israeli occupation army and issued by the Israeli military command, Israeli atrocities have resulted to the injury of 40 civilians, including one wounded in the abdomen.
According to the information available at the field research department in the Assembly, on Friday 5/July/2019, 65th Friday respectively, Thousands of unarmed civilians, women, children and youth gathered near the fence, in order to affirm their right of return, which has been affirmed by many international resolutions, in addition to demanding the lifting of the unjust siege imposed on the Gaza Strip. The demonstrators were distributed to 5 camps along the border with the Israeli occupation, east of Rafah, Khuza’a in Khan Younis, Al Bureij in the central, Shajaiya in Gaza and east of Jabalia in the northern of Gaza Strip. Although no threat was posed, Israeli soldiers stationed along the border strip directly targeted unarmed civilians, women and children, medical staff with live bullets and tear gas. This have resulted to the injury of 40 civilians, including one wounded in the abdomen.
The National Society for Democracy and Law condemn with great concern and seriousness the continued deliberate targeting by Israeli soldiers of unarmed children, women and medical staff without any legal justification so, the Assembly recalls on the international community again to get rid of the silence towards the Israeli crimes committed on the borders of the Gaza Strip.
It also confirms the need for the High Contracting Parties to abide by the Fourth Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilians, in particular Article 1, which states: “The High Contracting Parties undertake to respect and ensure its respect in all circumstances, as stated in Article 146 of the Fourth Geneva Convention” The High Contracting Parties undertake to take any legal action necessary to impose effective penal sanctions on persons who commit or order to commit one of the Serious violations of this agreement, set out in the following article, , which states: Each Contracting Party undertakes to prosecute persons accused of Serious violations or an order to commit them, and to bring them to his courts, whatever their nationality is.
