In cooperation with the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), the National society for Democracy and Law conducted a workshop entitled “Women’s Rights in the Personal Status Law”.
Samah Ashour, a lawyer at the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), welcomed the attendees and spoke about the work of the Women’s Unit and its programs in the service of women and the Center’s ongoing attempt to redress them. She also reviewed the Center’s experience in documenting violations of women’s rights in general. Ashour stressed that the status laws were not fair to women to Enjoy all its rights. She pointed out that the Center holds many lectures throughout the year on subjects related to the personal status law and the topics of violence, through which various segments of the society are targeted from the north of the Gaza Strip to the south, in order to spread human rights, In the Islamic courts to reach a better situation.
At the end of the meeting, Ashour stressed the need to continue to provide legal awareness to citizens in general and young people in particular.
